Adult Diversion Services (ADS)
A pre-filing criminal diversion program designed for the first-time misdemeanor offender. The program is four-months long. Participants receive an assessment based on their alleged criminal offense and personal needs. Individual contracts are designed to address criminal involvement and encourage personal growth. Criminal charges are discharged upon successful completion of the program.
Project Intercept (PI)A pre-trial criminal diversion program designed for most misdemeanor offenders. Program requirements and functions are the same as ADS. The difference is: ADS is a pre-filing (before criminal charges are filed) program and PI is a pre-trial (after filing, before adjudication) program. Criminal charges are dismissed upon successful completion of the program.
Deferred Entry of Judgment Program (DEJEP)Previously PC 1000 drug diversion, DEJEP is six-months long. Participants are required to attend weekly 12-step meetings, submit to random drug testing, attend educational groups and meet with a caseworker for needs assessment with referrals to ancillary services. Criminal charges are dismissed upon successful completion of the program.
Educational Sentencing Program (ESP)A conditional sentencing life skills program is a minimum of six month long. Convicted offenders are required to participate as a condition of sentencing. The program provides education, guidance, and support to those willing to make positive changes in their lives.
CHD Outpatient Treatment Services (CHD OPT)
CHD OPT is a three to six-month comprehensive drug treatment program. Participants are required to attend bi-weekly group sessions, bi-monthly individual counseling sessions, submit to random drug testing, attend twelve-step meetings and obtain a sponsor. CHD OPT utilizes “best practices” as required by the State of California. OPT is a two phase treatment program beginning with early recovery and graduating to relapse prevention and life-skills building. Referrals to OPT are made from 1210 court under Prop 36 (SACPA), TASC, and from drug diversion when deemed appropriate.

Intensive Out-Patient Treatment CHD provides an intensive drug treatment program that in addition to regular out patient treatment includes gender specific group sessions focusing on trauma. Women’s groups follow the curriculum of Stephanie Covington PhD., Beyond Trauma and the teachings of Lisa M. Najavits, Seeking Safety. The men’s group follows the Men’s Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model; a psycho-educational and skills oriented group. Four CHD counselors have completed sixty-hours of training in these curriculums and are certified in trauma treatment.
CHD DUI Court Program CHD DUI court program is modeled after Sonoma County’s successful drug court program and is a collaboration of several agencies including the Superior Court, Probation Department, the Public Defender’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, the Sheriff’s Department, as well as Alcohol and Other Drug Services. The program participants will be given professional help in confronting substance abuse issues but also this program will facilitate life changing improvements in the participant’s lives.
Prisoner Re-Entry Initiative (PRI) CHD just received an $87,500 grant from the State of California to serve 50 newly released jail inmates over a two-year period. PRI’s goal is to strengthen communities and reduce recidivism by helping returning offenders find work and other critical services in their area.
On-Site Drug Testing CHD provides on-site urinalysis (UA) testing for court-ordered offenders. UA testing includes a six-panel screen that includes: Amphetamins/Methamphetimines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Opiates, and THC (marijuana). Creatinine levels are measured to insure UA’s are not dilute. Drug test results are e-mailed within 48 hours via secured web-site for review.
Humanidad (Humanity) Counseling Services (HCS)
A counseling facility that provides one-on-one low-cost therapy. Participants receive personal individualized counseling with Marriage Family Therapist trainee's or Marriage Family Therapist interns.

Internship Opportunities
CHD's diversion programs offer an exciting hands-on internship ideal for criminal justice, psychology and sociology majors. Project Intercept's goal is to address the root cause of a client's involvement with the law. This can include homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, physical and emotional abuse and mental illness. Interns are responsible for up to 50 clients, have their own offices, and must be able to work with little supervision but much support. Internship hours are paid at minimum wage.

Problem Gambling Program
CHD is in the process of developing a gambling addiction program. Two bilingual/bicultural CHD staff recently received California State Board Gambling Counselor Certification (the equivalent to a master’s degree in behavioral health and a 1000 hour of work related experience). The program will focus on gambling specific treatment to include; pathological gambling, legal, financial and criminal issues of problem gambling and the devastating effects it has on families.
