Poder Popular
Funded by a grant from the California endowment, Poder popular is a collaboration between California Human Development, St. Joseph's Health Systems of Sonoma County, and Vineyard Worker Services.
Funded for three years, Poder Popular is a leadership development program. The program focuses on three areas, Healdsburg, St. Helena, and Agua Caliente. Participants are individuals with an interest in the lives of agricultural workers in Sonoma and Napa counties.
Each of the three years, a group of community organizers (promotores communitarios), will be given training to learn and develop leadership skills. The community organizers will then use their skills to assess, and provide leadership to improve the quality of life and the social health of their given community.
